Geotech Drilling Limited in Prince George, British Columbia, took delivery of the first Canadian-bound Geoprobe®
8040DT, adding it to their fleet of 30 drill rigs (including two Geoprobe® 6620DTs) that work throughout western
Canada. The company focuses on geotechnical, exploration, environmental, hydrogeological, and geothermal applications,
and are well-known for focusing on implementing the most technologically advanced drilling techniques available.
“The machine’s tremendous amount of pullback,” said Brandy Wagner, Project Manager for Geotech Drilling, “the
oscillating mast, and the ability of the machine to articulate and set up perfectly on each hole, regardless of ground
conditions, are, in our opinion, the best features of the machine. We’ve found it to be a multi-functional, land-light
geotechnical rig, and we’re still exploring the 8040DT’s breadth of capabilities.”

Prior to the December delivery, Travis Robinson, Technical Services Representative for GroundTech Solutions, the
exclusive distributor of Geoprobe® equipment in Canada, spent a week in Kansas with Geoprobe® Engineers to prepare for
Geotech’s machine delivery and to ensure the success of the 8040DT program in Canada. According to Travis, “Geoprobe
Systems® felt it was important that Canadian customers have the quality 8040DT technical support required to enjoy every
aspect of the machine’s success in the field, even in the harshest conditions in the ‘Great White North’!” Brandy Wagner
and John Cameron, Special Projects Manager for Geotech Drilling were also at Geoprobe® headquarters for extensive
hands-on training and individual instruction on machine and tooling options and operations.
Since the December delivery, Geotech Drilling has used their 8040DT in areas where stratigraphy is unclear. “The
versatility of this rig,” Brandy added, “enables the simple change of drill methodologies, when required, to successfully
complete the hole. We have found it to be an impressive machine that is superseding common preconceptions of direct
push capabilities and multi-purpose drill rigs,” she concluded.
