When it came time to produce a larger-diameter rod than the original 1.0 in. Geoprobe® probe rods, engineers examined several alternative 1.25 in. thread patterns, comparing the results of extensive failure testing to arrive at a design that offered maximum benefits to the field user. Geoprobe® 1.25 in. probe rods offer unmatched durability, fatigue resistance, joint sealing, and ease of make up along with a bore of sufficient size to run implants and logging cables. As with other Geoprobe® rods, these 1.25 in. probe rods are manufactured exclusively by Geoprobe® Systems under exacting quality control procedures in order to assure that the product delivered to the field is the same product proven in field trials.

The inside diameter of Geoprobe® 1.25 in. probe rods will vary dependent upon the stock supplied to us by the mill and the effects of heat treatment. According to ASTM A-519, the internal diameter of material in this size may range .005 in. from 0.620 in. to 0.625 in. (15.7 mm to 15.9 mm). Although this is the allowable, the actual variation is typically much smaller than this.

1.25 IN. ROD SYSTEM COMMONLY USED WITH:

0.625 in. (15.9 mm) ID. Heat treated to inhibit fracturing and fatigue. O-ring groove for watertight seal at each joint. Tapered end for easy joint make up, just 1-3/4 turns. Multi-lead provides for quick connections to standard Geoprobe® brand sampling and logging tools. Geoprobe® proprietary rounded thread system, hardened for maximum durability. Larger inside diameter makes bore of sufficient size to run implants and logging cables. (see rod sizes above.)
