Customers Approve of Next Generation MC Tooling

“We no longer run any older MC tooling ... just the MC tools. They’re more dependable, quicker, and more efficient.”

Rod Johnson with Bergeson Boese and Associates is shown at a jobsite in Pleasant Hill, OR, installing monitoring wells with a Geoprobe® Model 6600/PC111.

Our reliable and popular Macro-Core® tooling needed a facelift to respond to the requests for increased strength and a need for the tools to last longer. The formula began with designing a larger MC Sample Tube (increased the OD from 2.125 in. to 2.25 in.) which led to beefing up the thread design on the sample tube and all of the accessory tools. These improvements to the already robust Macro-Core® sampler make a great product perform even better in the field.

On a recent visit to the northwest, Todd Courbot, Geoprobe® Customer Service, was able to watch the MC5 sampling system in action. Rod Johnson with Bergeson Boese & Associates in Eugene, OR, was running the new tooling “and loving it,” Todd said. “To watch them use the new MC5 tools and the light weight center rods was very impressive,” Todd added. Bergeson Boese was on a tanker refueling yard, running the system to 20 to 30 feet.

“Using the MC5 tools and the new MC Center Rod system, I saw this company sample much faster than they would have previously, and the system was more durable in these conditions than the MC Stop-Pin system would have been,” Todd added.

Rod, who was at the controls of the Bergeson Boese 6600 machine when Todd met with him, thinks the MC5 tooling is great. “We no longer run any older MC tooling ... just the MC5 tools and center rod system,” Rod said. “They’re sturdier and more dependable.”

22922 and 9034Todd says the customers he’s talked to are in agreement with Rod. “The MC5 tooling has been well received by customers I’ve met with who have used the new tools,” Todd said.

The redesigned Macro-Core® MC5 tools with the stronger thread system include sample tubes in 60-, 48-, 39-, 36-, and 24-in. lengths, closed-piston points, drive heads, and cutting shoes, shown to the right. These new tools are not interchangeable with older Macro-Core® tooling. Call Geoprobe® Customer Service if you have questions.
