An important part of the Machine Purchase Process is making sure you, our Customer, are ready for the Geoprobe® machine when it’s delivered. It’s important for you to review this check list so there are no glitches when your new machine arrives. Just a few minutes of pre-planning will help this process go smoothly.

|
Sign the Quote. The Geoprobe® formal quote must be signed by an authorized representative of your company and returned to Geoprobe Systems® along with payment before the Geoprobe® machine and tools are transported to your delivery destination. |
 |
| |
|
Unloading the Equipment. We’ll tell you how your machine will be transported to your selected delivery site and when it will arrive. You will need to make sure you have the equipment available to safely unload your new Geoprobe® machine and tooling. Unloading may require a dock, tilt bed truck, fork lift (for tools pallets & lighter units), or whatever equipment necessary to remove your new machine from the transport vehicle. Machine Training. Machine and tools training is in an important part of your Geoprobe® equipment purchase. Safe machine usage and the correct use of tooling makes you and your field staff safe and more productive. You and your staff are led through safety procedures, machine operation, machine maintenance and service, and tool identification and usage. The training site is pre-arranged and pre-determined by the customer and should be ready for your staff to put tools in the ground when the Geoprobe® training is ready to begin. Machine or tools training should never be held at a job site. |
| |
|
Your Training Checklist should include the following:
- The training site should be cleared of underground utilities. You should call “Dig Safe” and have all utilities identified and marked if you are not familiar with the site.
- If special access is required to the training site, the Customer is responsible for obtaining an access permit for Geoprobe® training personnel.
- Water is needed at the training site for lubricating tools, cleaning tools, and operating some tools packages, i.e. the Concrete Coring Kit, Grout Pumps, and Onboard Water Tanks.
All trainees MUST wear safety gear during the training session. This includes eye and hearing protection, hardhat, steel-toed shoes, and gloves.
- Since new Geoprobe® machines are shipped with a minimum amount of fuel, you should have easy access to fuel to fill the fuel tank.
- Adequate time should be allowed for training. The time needed will be dictated by the number of different tools packages, the types of tools on which you and your field staff are trained, and the number of trainees. Training may be done in separate sessions if a large number of field staff are in attendance.
- During tools training, if actual water samples need to be drawn from the subsurface, the Customer should know the approximate depth to water.
- In case of inclement weather, the Customer should have a sheltered place where tools can be laid out and inventoried. Some of the training may take place in this sheltered area.

If you’ve purchased a 66 series machine, you need to have available an industrial gas supply outlet where the nitrogen bottle can be charged or exchanged. If you’re taking delivery of a Model 540UD, the Geoprobe® machine needs to be installed in a truck before your training day. For 540MT and 54LT machines and Geoprobe® Grout Machines, you need to make arrangements in advance to provide transportation of the machine to the training site.
|
 |
| |
|
The following items are needed during the training session:
- 6-inch Magnetic Level
- Assorted hand tools such as pipe wrenches, screwdrivers, hammer, vice grips, adjustable jaw wrenches, hex wrenches, socket wrenches, open/box end wrenches, tape measure, various amp. blade style automotive fuses, and a toolbox.
If a machine vice doesn’t come with the Geoprobe® machine, one should be available on site.
- A can of silicone spray.
